The Hotel Gardena Grödnerhof is a 5-star gourmet and spa facility in Val Gardena (Italy).
I was recently (as of February 2016) staying in the village of Ortisei on a ski vacation in the Dolomites (i.e. Val Gardena) with some friends. This community has one (1-star) Guide Michelin restaurant named Anna Stuben, which is a family-run restaurant located in the Hotel Gardena Grödnerhof with a firm focus on local Alpine produce on the menu.
Chef Reimund Brunner use high quality local and regional products and we were recommended a couple of really good local wines by the sommelier Franz Lageder (awarded “Sommelier 2014 South Tyrol” by the “Der Große Restaurant & Hotel” Guide)
We opted for the 6-course Reimund Brunner Degustation Menu:
Amuse-bouche
Bread
Red king crab
oven baked celery, buttermilk, earth almonds
Oxtail
consommé, cauliflower, morels
Caviar
ravioli, smoked potatoes, parsley root
Swiss pine
risotto, fonduta, lardo
Sole
radicchio, powidl, macadamia
Black-feathered chicken
peas, spring leek, black truffle
Pre-dessert
“Cocco bello”
kiwi, coconut, purple curry
Petits fours
Summary: A very good final after a full day in the ski slopes. Enjoyable food in a pleasant and cozy dining room.
