The Guide Michelin restaurants for Italy 2015 has now (i.e. November 4, 2014) been announced.

In the 3-star category there are no changes from last year (i.e. still eight in total).

In the 2-star category there are two new additions, Piccolo Principe in Viareggio and the Taverna Estia in Brusciano. Rigoletto (Reggiolo RE) is closed for renovation and loses its two stars. Both Il Desco (Verona VR) and Il Pellicano (Porto Ercole GR) are downgraded from two to one star for the 2015 Italy Michelin Guide. There are now 39 restaurants with two stars in Italy.

27 new restaurants enter the 2015 Michelin Guide with their first star. Italy now has a total of 285 restaurants with one star.

I have personally visited seven of the eight 3-stars restaurants in Italy and my favorite so far is Le Calandre which I consider to be one of the best restaurants in the world. In the 2-stars category I have Al Sorriso in the very top and I can personally not understand why this former 3-stars restaurant was downgraded by Guide Michelin though, in regards to my taste preferences, it is one of the best restaurants in Italy.
