Due to altered weather in Schwarzwald, we decided to change plans and instead of a day of hiking, we opted for lunch in Baden-Baden (close to the border of France). We were able to schedule a table on a short notice at the 1-star restaurant Le Jardin de France.
Chef Patron Stéphan Bernhard runs Le Jardin de France together with his wife Sophie. They arrived in Baden-Baden from Alsace in 1998 and the restaurant is located in the heart of the charming city center.
Classical French cuisine is served here and since we had a dinner scheduled at Bareiss in the evening, we decided to choose the “Business Lunch” a 35 €.
Amuse-Bouche:
A nice little amusement started this lunch.
Bread:
Starter:
As a starter we got a good mushroom soap.
Main:
No picture.
The main course was a fish dish with cod and potato as its main ingredients. Simple but good!
Pre-dessert:
Okay, but nothing special.
Dessert:
Good!
Coffee:
The coffee was (as usual) not included and was served together with a chocolate truffle.
We shared an okay bottle of Bourgogne from 2009 during the lunch.
Summary:
This was both a nice and very praiseworthy lunch with classical French influences.
